What Is the Ballon d'Or AI Filter?

The Ballon d'Or AI filter is the name people give to a short AI video trend from October 2026: a normal photo becomes a clip of that person being called up at a football awards gala and lifting a golden ball on stage. Most people send it to the family chat as if it really happened, then reveal it was made with AI.

The trend took off in the week of the real ceremony on 26 October 2026. It started with a CapCut template by the French creator j4ms, posted on 22 October with a caption inviting people to prank their parents with a "Ballon d'Or filter". That post passed 2.3 million views within a day, and the template was used more than 130,000 times by ceremony night.

Why it is called a "filter" when it is a video

The original caption said "filtre" (French for filter), and the word stuck. In practice the Ballon d'Or AI filter is not a live camera effect you point at your face. It is a rendered video: an AI model takes your photo, builds the gala around you and animates the whole scene. That is why it takes a few minutes instead of working in real time.

What happens in the 10 seconds

Every Ballon d'Or AI filter video on this page follows the same short story. You sit in a packed theatre among guests in black tie. Your name is called, you rise from your seat in disbelief and walk toward the lit stage while the room applauds. On stage you receive a golden ball, lift it with both hands and smile into the camera.

Where Is the Ballon d'Or AI Filter? TikTok, Instagram and CapCut

If you searched for the Ballon d'Or AI filter inside an app and found nothing, you did not miss it. Here is where the clips you saw actually come from.

On TikTok

TikTok is where the finished clips are posted, but at the time of writing there is no official TikTok effect called the Ballon d'Or AI filter. The videos in your feed were made elsewhere and uploaded as normal vertical clips. Most posts use the trend sound "original sound - k3lvin231", a cut of the song "Detstvo" by Rauf & Faik. Your MP4 from this page comes with AI-generated applause and live sound effects, but no music. To use the trend sound, add it inside TikTok when you post (the FAQ below shows how), and your video also appears on that sound's page with every other clip in the trend.

On Instagram

Instagram has no Ballon d'Or AI filter effect either. People post the finished video as a Reel. Our MP4 is 9:16, so it uploads to Reels without cropping.

On CapCut

CapCut is where the trend began, as a shared template rather than a filter. The catch: dozens of CapCut templates share the Ballon d'Or name, and many are player slideshows or ranking edits that never use your face. Template links can also disappear or be unavailable in your region. Our guide to the Ballon d'Or CapCut template explains how to find the right one.

In your browser, on this page

The simplest way to use the Ballon d'Or AI filter is the generator at the top of this page. It runs in any phone or desktop browser, needs one photo, and gives you a downloadable MP4.

How to Use the Ballon d'Or AI Filter Here

You can make your Ballon d'Or AI filter video in three steps, and the first step costs nothing.

1. Add one clear photo and pick an outfit

Upload a bright, front-facing photo of yourself, or of an adult who agreed to it. JPG, PNG and WebP all work. Then choose a suit and tie or an evening gown. Your photo can be a hoodie or a football shirt: the AI keeps your face and hair and changes only your clothes.

2. Check your first frame for free

Sign in and press Preview. You get a still image of yourself seated at the gala, and every account gets 3 free previews a day. If the face doesn't look like you, try another photo before you spend anything. No other step in the process tells you this early whether the result will work.

3. Make the video and download it

When the first frame looks right, press Make the video. It usually takes a few minutes, and you can close the page: the finished clip waits in My videos as a 10-second 9:16 MP4 with live applause and no watermark, ready for TikTok, Reels, Shorts or the family chat.

How to Get a Ballon d'Or AI Filter Result That Looks Like You

The photo you upload decides most of the result. These checks save credits.

Choose the right photo

Use one face, looking toward the camera, in even daylight. Avoid sunglasses, hats that shade the eyes, heavy beauty filters and group shots. A selfie where your face fills a good part of the frame works better than a full-body photo from far away.

Pick the outfit that matches you

Suit and tie gives the classic black-tie winner look from the original trend. Evening gown puts you in a long formal dress for the same walk to the stage. Only the clothes change; your face and hair stay yours.

When the face looks off

If your free first frame looks like someone else, the photo is almost always the reason. Try a sharper, closer shot with nothing covering your face. Hands holding the trophy can still blur slightly between frames, which is a current limit of AI video models.

Is the Ballon d'Or AI Filter Free?

Partly. The first-frame preview is free: 3 a day for every signed-in account, and later previews cost 1 credit each. The video itself uses credits because every 10-second render costs real compute: 10 credits at 480p and 22 credits at 720p. Credits come in one-time packs with no subscription: $9.99 for 10 credits, $19.99 for 30 and $29.99 for 55. If a render fails, times out or is stopped by the safety check, its credits go straight back to your balance. See all packs on the pricing page.

Using the Ballon d'Or AI Filter Responsibly

The Ballon d'Or AI filter puts a real face on a stage it never stood on, so a few rules apply to every video. Upload yourself or an adult who said yes. Photos of children, footballers and celebrities are refused. Tell people it's a joke before the clip spreads beyond the family chat, and switch on the AI-generated label when TikTok, Instagram or YouTube offers it. If you are planning to fool the family, our Ballon d'Or prank guide covers what to text and how to reveal it. The trophy in your video is a generic golden ball, not the official award, and this site is an independent fan project with no link to the Ballon d'Or, France Football or UEFA.
